You can renew it after a year. The main reason that they have non-students as a year license (instead of 3 years for students) is that they want to check in to make sure you still qualify (as long as you’re not a business making more than $100K yearly you still qualify).
Your data is all tied to your A360 account (not your software license), which is really cool because you can access your files online (https://a360.autodesk.com). They also have a smartphone app (called Fusion 360) where you can view all your models and renders, which is super handy if you’re an avid CAD person like me and insist on talking about your projects to everyone you meet.

I’ve been talking to Launchbox (PSU’s new start-up outreach program) about hosting Fusion workshops there specifically for community members and start-ups.
